Anything With Buttons

Ian is obsessed with electronics. If a gizmo has buttons, he wants to play with it. He's always after our remote controllers, cell phones, and computers. The TI-83 calculator is perfect for him. It has plenty of buttons to press, plus he can bite it, smash it against the headboard, or chuck it across the room. TI calculators are virtually indestructible. Ian is also proudly wearing a College Prep onesie.

Ian Has Words

At just over one year old, Ian is 31" tall and weighs 21 lbs. He has two teeth and he knows two words. Let me be more precise: he understands more than two of our words, but I can only understand two of his words. Here they are in this video:

They Might Be Educational

A friend at work introduced me to the recent music of "They Might Be Giants" which is aimed at kids! Shannon bought the three DVDs. Most of the songs have videos that are really cute, and they might be educational! Want to see what Ian's been watching?

Ian Bustin' Out of a 0-3 Month Onesie

Today, Ian went to the zoo for the first time! When he came home, Ian had an afternoon snack of cottage cheese and then we filmed him from my computer. Here's a short clip.

Ian and Uncle Russell

Uncle Russell is visiting us. We haven't seen him since our wedding! We weren't sure if Ian and Uncle Russell would get along. Ian isn't much of a people person, as many of you know.

Nevertheless, Uncle Russell was able to coax our brooding introvert out of his shell. The two of them got along like a house on fire.

Spring Cleaning

Now that Ian is more than nine months old, it's time he started pulling his weight (about 18 lbs). Here's Ian putting a polish on our living room window. Oops! You missed a spot.

It's all fun and games until...

I've told most of you that Ian is getting to be a bit rough-and-tumble in his manner of play. Let me rephrase that. Ian is a tiny hurt factory. He himself seems to be nigh invulnerable, but he can unleash a flurry of kicky feet, slappy hands, and pokey fingers that can bring stinging tears of pain to the most stoic of us.

Here's what I mean:

1. Oh, it starts innocently enough.	2. Then, without warning, a lightning-fast palm to the forehead.
3. With his opponent stunned and woozy, Ian has a bit of fun. Here's Ian's version of "got yer nose."	4. A fishhook to the lower lip draws the match to a quick finish. Sulking, his opponent whimpers, "I hink hy hip is hleeding."
